Taking The Other To Lunch

Welcome to the Taking The Other To Lunch site. The impetus for the idea is to identify ways in which ideas and thoughts about culture and internationalism could be discussed, shared and promoted.

There are 4 tasks to work through. The tasks should not take more than 60 minutes in total to complete. You have the option of completing Task 1, Task 3, and Task 4 individually or with your lunch partner.

Task 1. Watch 6 videos related to the concept of internationalism.
Task 2. Have lunch with your ‘Other’ (Guidelines for the lunch are available via this link).
Task 3. Via the Google Form link write a reflection on your lunch experience and provide feedback on the potential of the initiative.
Task 4. Share details of any global citizenship resources you have used on the embedded spreadsheet.

Task 1: Watch the 6 videos. While you are watching each video you might want to think about how the video relates to the idea of international-mindedness

Video 1: Penguins

Video 2: Raghava KK: Shake Up Your Story

Video 3: Suzanne Talhouk: Don't kill your language

Video 4: Elif Shafak: Circles & Orange: I Am Everyone

Video 5: Brave New Voices 2013

Video 6: Elizabeth Lesser: Take The Other To Lunch

Task 2: Take 'The Other' To Lunch. You might want to structure your lunch/ coffee conversation through the use of these guidelines and prompts

Task 3: Post your reflections on your lunch via the Google Form. You may choose to do this individually or together. What did you learn? Was your lunch a positive experience? Google Form: Taking The Other To Lunch
